Cinder By Marissa Meyer: Review

Author: Marissa Meyer
Release Date: January 3rd 2012
Rating: 3.5 stars

I've been contemplating for long (like REALLY long) as to how I'm going to rate this book. Not that it was all THAT bad, or absolutely awesome that it's left me dumbstruck.
*clears throat* So, basically Cinder is like a super modern, super (super super) creative version of Cinderella. Hence the name, Cinder but whatever.
Cinder was a good character, pretty rough around the edges, but we can adjust. She had a step mother and two step sisters (yes, it's kinda the same, except one of the sisters actually LIKES Cinder).
She's actually a cyborg, which is because of the reason that she was greatly injured in a hover accident, so she had to be kept alive by inducing ... A fake leg, hand and other part into her *shudders*
It's a good thing she hates it.
But WHAT Cinder was, was just so obvious that I actually ROLLED my eyes when it was confirmed. I mean the synopsis basically thrusts it in your face with a neon bulb saying "THIS IS THE SUSPENSE!"
Prince Kai, hmmm, an overall good character. Sweet, charming, oh let's not forget he's the Prince of the town (insert swooning sound here), so everyone, I mean EVERYONE, crushes on him. Including Cinder.
The imagination of the plot wad really good, how the plot fits into the story of Cinderella to make it something ... MORE than a fairy tale was also good.
But there were times when I would just wish for the book to PLEASE go faster, 'cos it was dragging and I could practically see my nails grow longer (no, really, I could).
3.5 stars.
And on an overall the plot was good, but when it was brought onto paper...hmmm, not so much. But the ending was good, the pace suddenly appeared and I would read the next book just to find out what the Hell happens!
Is that what a books supposed to do? *shrug*
Maybe.
