I am utterly proud to say that even though I read this book today even though I have an exam tomorrow, I'm posting this review only after studying! See? I'm a good girl.
*Clears throat* Anyway the book, well clearly you can tell if a girl (who is mostly responsible) has read this book on the day that is just before her exam, the book must be that good, or the girl doesn't care about her grades, (since the above "I'm mostly responsible" statement contradicts that, yeah, that book was THAT good.)\
Oh. My. God. That was SUCH a good book. I devoured it.
This book starts off with Maggie, Caleb and all the members of Jacobson family being present in the ... (lets just say house) where the council stays, amongst all the others clans as well who have come to see their Visionary. Caleb and Maggie have grown so much in their relationship and I'm so proud to see them stand up for what they believe no matter who they are standing against. The council, or rather a single adamant member of the council was so much against them that all I could do was get so pissed off that I seriously wanted to step into their world and whack that specific member on the head.
But the amount of surprises one receives while reading the book is .. a LOT.
These were my following reactions:
For surprise one: Oh..My-
BHAM! Enter surprise 2: You have got to be-
BHAM! Entre surprise 3: HOLY-
And it continues.
What can I say? Every breath I took I read a surprise. And the addition of Rodney was beautiful and I'm really happy to get to know him. Kyle and Lynne are totally cute and their relationship moves...um faster than Caleb and Maggie's had (take a guess at what I'm talking about) and yeah, Caleb was right. Kyle really isn't the gentleman Caleb is.
Bish and Jen? What can I say? They torture each other, but please anyway.
SO much is revealed in this book that I feel super super proud of Shelly Crane for being able to pull this off!
Five Stars.
As promised, Quotes!
"Ah!" I gasped as I finally caught the scene of the city in daylight.
"Look at that!"
"Babe," Caleb groaned. "I'll take you to the city one day, or anywhere you want to go, but not today. Today we have to get you back to your room before they come to wake you(...)"
That got me moving.
~~~
Caleb was ecstatic. All that was missing was the puffed up chest. It was pretty adorable.
~~~
Caleb smirked at me in humor and then turned to Rodney.
"Dude, I thought you were going to watch her."
"Hey!" I bristled.
"I meant look after," Caleb admonished sweetly. I knew he was throwing me a bone, but I fell for it anyway.
~~~
I looked down at him and saw that he was in his underwear still. I couldn't help but smile, but then we heard a door open. Gran came out of her room, stopping dead in her tracks at seeing her grandson in his skivvies.
I waited for her to blush, or something, anything, but she just stood there.
Caleb coughed uncomfortably and pulled me in front of him. It was the first time he'd ever put me in front of him to shield him.
~~~
You may call that stubborn, I call it independence. (This is an epic quote!)
